Long Island cocktail

We were reminded of this killer cocktail in every sense by the next episode of our favorite TV series The Big Bang Theory. Namely, the scene where Sheldon Cooper, saddened by a bad day, comes to Penny's cafe and sits down near the bar. Penny offers him this magical drink with the words "Here, here, iced tea straight from Long Island."

Unaware of the trick, Sheldon empties his glass in one fell swoop and exclaims: “This is the most delicious tea I have ever tasted! Pour some more!” To Penny's warning to slow down, he replies, "I drink tea all the time, don't teach me how to do it!". As a result, he drinks a couple of glasses in a row and ... what happens next, the fans of the series probably remember well.

The cocktail is truly amazing! It is called so because it can hardly be distinguished from ordinary iced tea with lemon in color, aroma, and even taste. Rumor has it that it was invented in the United States during Prohibition to disguise the "flammable potion" as a refreshing tea. If you decide to try, be careful: the drink is very easy to drink and just as easy to hit the head, so do not get carried away and know the measure.

Compound:

  • 12 ice cubes
  • 15 ml vodka
  • 15 ml gin
  • 15 ml dark rum
  • 15 ml Cointreau
  • 100 ml cola
  • 40 ml lemon juice
  • 1 lemon wedge for garnish

Cooking:

  1. Place 5 ice cubes in a shaker and add all the ingredients except the cola.
  2. Close the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
  3. Put the remaining ice in a tall glass and pour cola.
  4. Now carefully pour the contents of the shaker into the glass (the ice cubes should remain in the shaker). The drink should, as it were, delaminate into two parts: dark at the bottom, light at the top.
  5. Garnish with a slice of lemon and serve immediately, leaving the taster the opportunity to stir the cocktail himself.
