How to overcome fear of speaking

e8df4f1419fd9c1f768d4a252f81ce21Public speaking is a challenge for many people. Fear and excitement fill a person at the mere thought that you need to go out in public, plus everything else you need to say something. If you have an event on your nose where you will have to take the stage, then you should follow a few guidelines.

1. Relax. When you are overwhelmed by unrest, then most of all you want to become invisible. This feeling will only worsen your condition, and the closer you get to the performance, the more you will feel mental discomfort. Therefore, you do not need any extra stress.

2. Don't cross your arms. Be open. Openness will make it clear to the public that you are sincere and confident in your abilities. In addition, an open posture will improve blood circulation throughout the body.

3. Try to breathe correctly. When you're excited, your breathing quickens, so take a deep breath, count to four, and exhale quickly. Repeat this exercise about ten times.

4. Repeat your speech, but do not memorize it, because at the slightest excitement the whole speech will fly out of your head. Speech should be in a calm and even tone. To reduce anxiety, say the speech or part of it aloud without opening your mouth. This will help relax both the facial and throat muscles.

5. Plan your speech. Even the most experienced speaker can get nervous. Therefore, you need to make a plan for the speech that you will tell. These should be clear sentences that characterize one or another part of your speech. Each point of the plan will be able to push you to a separate idea that you wanted to tell the public about.

As a result, the performance will come to its logical conclusion.

  1. With these recommendations, you can support a person who just enters the stage for the first time. Here, rather, recommendations on how to act correctly. But the real fear of performances is a medical problem, since a person on stage can have a panic attack, accompanied by suffocation.

  2. To learn how to speak in front of a large number of people with a speech, you need to practice with fewer people. In the course of my work, I often conduct training sessions with various people and at first I was very lost, even when I trained 5-6 people in the office. But experience comes with time, and now I don’t even prepare a speech in advance, I explain everything in my own words. Therefore, I advise you, wherever possible, to tell your friends something more often, for example, when several people gather. And, by the way, the more training I did, the more confident I became and the more I allowed to deviate from the topic during a speech, joke and again painlessly return to the topic without losing the meaning.
